The figure of £200 million is bandied about as the cost for buliding the Centre.

At a guess perhaps 500 people are employed there.

£200 million divided by 500 equates at £400,000 per job created. I leave you to draw your own conclusions, but I suspect it is not in any way good value for money.It would have been cheaper to retain 500 unemployed on the dole.

It is very rare for me to create a post, but I feel compelled to put finger to keyboard on a subject close to my wallet.

Why should Council Staff receive a retirement pension funded, by myself & people like me, from our council tax payments? Surely this is mis-appropriation of funds? I pay council tax for alledged services provided by the Council, not to feather the retirement nests of ex public servants.

I recently read on the East Riding Council web site that Church Road & Corby Park in North Ferriby are to have the roads resurfaced in May 2008. Lo & behold on Friday 4th April 2008 a team of council employees were out renewing the white lines on the said roads. Perhaps it was done to justify the above inflation rise in this years council tax. Maybe ERYC is trying to outdo Hull in the stupidity stakes.
