What a day yesterday.."fantastic" Thank you so much for all those people involved in creating such an interesting and pleasent day. A special thank you must go to all those people who attended the Garden Village Centenary celebration Summer Fete and made the event the huge success that it was.

Final preparations are well under way for the Garden Village Centenary celebrations which take place on Sunday 27th starting at 12.15 with the unveiling of a plaque by Mrs Mary Reckitt, and then the re-enactment of the opening ceremony at No 7 The Oval at 1.15.
The Garden Village Summer fete will also be taking place with stalls and rides, music,food, martial arts display and Irish Dancing.

"We are the village children" is the name of the song been learnt by children for the Garden Village Centenary Celebrations that take place on Sunday 27th July. The childen will sing the song as well as performing dances from each of the decades during the last 100 years.
The events start with the first historical walk at 10am and these walks will take place at regular intervals during the day wuith the last walk starting at about 5pm

Holderness House was bought by Mr. T.R. Ferens, a former confidential clerk to Sir James Reckitt who had risen to become a director of Reckitt & Sons Ltd and was now also Liberal M.P. for East Hull. Garden Village folk were delighted that the Holderness House grounds had been spared from building development.
