A 10 month journey at an astronomical cost (sorry!) and a new space probe lands on Mars. I think it’s fantastic, and the pictures remarkable. Does everyone agree, or should the money and technology etc be put to better use here at home?

Discussions are underway to review the abortion time limit. Is it ever right to extinguish a lifeform? When can it be classed as such – at conception, or at birth when it has a better chance of independent survival? Is it murder?

Although I recognise the need to keep to a lawful speed whilst driving, I feel that the speed camera system is very unfair. This system literally takes a snapshot in the driver’s journey – a journey that up to that point may well have been perfectly legal – as may all his/her previous journies. At that point, the driver may have inadvertantly strayed above the given limit – a sloping road, slight diversion of attention to look in the rear view…

Are there any things that may seem quite innocent and inconsequential to others that really irritate you? I have a short fuse when it comes to misuse of the apostrophe ’s’, people who don’t take posters down once the advertised event has passed, cyclists who want consideration on the road yet do nothing to help enhance their safety, and people who say "24/7"!

Always an emotive subject, the capital punishment debate rears it’s head again after this week’s recent murder convictions. With prisons being so overcrowded and expensive, and society being somewhat complacement to violent incidents, is it time to bring back the ulimate deterrent? If a DNA database were to include evrybody’s details, then the case should be easier to see through, and the chance of despatching the wrong person virtually impossible…
