Would the world be a better place if the internet hadn’t been invented?

Lets say that computers were with us but the "interconnected" part had been left out. Would our lives have been better? Would our future be more secure? Have we developed too quickly?

I heard earlier today that the company behind the Total filling stations on Hessle Road, Anlaby Road and Boothferry Road (amongst others) have gone into receivership!

I noticed that the one on Hessle Rd was coned off this morning. I’ve lookedd on the net but can find no mention of it. Can anyone add to the story?

Apparently, Asda are now selling a packet of 8 sausages for just 16p!

This is wrong on so many levels.

The power of this company means that, somewhere along the line, somebody will be working for next to nothing. Not to mention the damage that these products do to other struggling businesses. They’re probably just another example of a "loss-leader"!

Is there any chance of adding "smilies" for use in posts at all?

This would enable users to set a tone for their comments. Far too many people are taking things out of context and taking things at face value. Its common for users of messageboards to jump to conclusions and take things the wrong way, this can obviously lead to bad feeling.

It would probably lighten the tone a bit too.
