Once bitten twice shy....

A MUM who paid £700 to a US seller for a designer puppy that never arrived is warning others to be aware of buying pets online.

Tina-Marie Kirman initially paid £250 for the pedigree shih tzu from a seller based in Texas, who she contacted through the Internet

Mrs Kirman, 24, had spotted the pooch on a website and initially paid £250.

But the seller then demanded a further £400, which he assured her would be refunded later.

Mrs Kirman, of Kinthorpe, Orchard Park, paid in full using MoneyGram, which allows cash to be "wired" electronically via a post office. [it continues]

"Mrs Kirman reckoned she has spent £700."

Even the HDM is sceptical. Another benefit scam? How in god’s name has a single mother of 3 from OPE got £700 spare to spend on a dog?

Your extremist right-wing views on poor people ironically reflect poorly on yourself Red. I believe her mother had a shih tzu, may live next door to yourself, and have lent her daughter the money. Or, maybe the mother accrued all her benefits, paid solely by yourself, to purchase a dog that will only accrue her more money from yourself. Or, maybe she peddled her children by the side of the road so gullible liberal fools threw money into their threadbear caps. Or, maybe she runs a Fagin-type operation sending her thieving little brood out each afternoon to prey upon the local nobility. Or, perhaps her painter & decorator husband helped them out?

Extremist!? What a tool you are! Why can’t you say you disagree and express your opinion rather than being catty and resorting to nastiness. There really is no need.

Look at the HDM site on the matter and you will see that quite a few people share my view. Trust me, her mother does not live next door to me.

What annoys me is that my wife and I go to work everyday to earn money; we pay our taxes; all our bills are paid on time. Yet we do not have the disposable income to buy a £700 dog from America, nor the stupidity to believe the person was genuine. Also that type of dog is not suitable for families with small children, showing irresponsibility – what a surprise. Clearly the shared "Danes of OPE" braincell hasn’t made it to that address yet!

I’m not happy about your use of the word ‘tool’, especially when used in a paragraph that asks "Why can’t you say you disagree and express your opinion rather than being catty and resorting to nastiness."

You go on to make a valid point, but spoil it somewhat with your sweeping generalisation about the level of intelligence of OPE residents.

Let’s keep it respectful, please. That goes for all users.

Who in their right mind would believe that shipping any livestock from America would be a good thing? and really paying for it over the internet? The ‘scammers’ must have seen this wally coming. I did have a pedigree dog paid £500 for her as a puppy, visited with the owners every week at least once a week to see mum and pups until she was old enough to leave there. Stayed in contact with them afterwards to let them know how she was getting on too. Mind you I have no kids, my husband had a very well paid job and we had our house decorated rather than bare plaster. So I guess you could say we could afford it, that said I also had a gorgeous alsation cross that came from the dog’s home on Clough Road, cost us £50.00 and was much better natured with children than our highly strung pedigree wiemaraner.

A big part of choosing a dog/puppy is making sure that the one you pick is right for you and your family, it must fit in.

How on earth can anyone attempt to do that from a distance?

The way you presented the article infered this was the objective view of the HDM article, to highlight the disgraceful matter of poor people having nice things. You’re too general to be sweeping up after yourself, so it needs a tool such as I to do it for you.

If it had been a pensioner from Orchard Park, I suppose your attitude would have been different, but then again, perhaps not.

Come to think of it, I might email her and see if she’s interested in buying a Unicorn’s horn for £1000, one careful owner! Earning a living, Hull

ALL dogs should be put down. Bill Baxter, Amber Nectar

After looking at the picture of her and the dog that she wanted to buy! Id have the dog it looks better looking! mike, Hull

Hmm, with comments like these, who needs reason.

Perhaps she would only purchase a Unicorns’ horn if they came in pairs.

One scammer scammed by another scammer, Poetic justice I believe. For someone on benefits to afford £700 for some silly mongrel is beyond belief and there is something very fishy about it all.
