Heritage Days begin next month with many of Hull’s older buildings opening up for the day.
The days run between the 11th and 14th of September and admission is free. Many locations give tours of the buildings which is often great fun for all the family, as well as educational.
The Heritage Days are run by English Heritage and in Hull there are a number of properties on display including,
Blaydes House,
Brynmoor Jones Library,
Carnegie Heritage Information centre,
DinoStar Open House,
Holy Trinity Church,
Maister House,
Humberside Police Youth and Community Centre,
Victoria Dock Village Trail,
All the Yorkshire entries, including Hull are listed here, http://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/directory/region/Yorkshire%20&%20Humberside/

I attended last years with the wife and we were given a guided tour of Blaydes House which was fantastic, informative and quite amusing. The staircase and window is a sight that every Hull dweller must see at some point
Another venue we visited was the Neptune Inn, a place I had researched as Hull born Ripper suspect, Robert D’Onston Stephenson had worked there. It was a lovely building with one of the finest ceiling displays I have ever seen.
We also visited St Mary’s church on Lowgate, which must have been undergoing some work as ladders and trestles stood in every corner.
