The emergency services

Since we don’t have a poll option on YourSay, I thought maybe people could just express an opinion. So, if you lay out your post as shown below, and just write your thoughts on the three main emergency services, it would be interesting to read peoples’ thoughts – also, if you work for any of the services, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.
Police
Do a very difficult job, with their hands tied by policy, procedure, and the pathetic criminal justice system in the UK. Understaffed, criticised constantly by people who know little about the conditions in which they work, must be a lousy job….
Ambulance
Understaffed, struggling to meet response times, post Bradley Report, but do a wonderful job, which I would love to do, really worthwhile. Must be demoralising to turn up to jobs only to be attacked by yobbos or robbed by a smack-head.
Fire
Couldn’t do this one – don’t like fire… too hot!! Very brave, do a very good job, but don’t understand why they don’t acknowledge the other emergency services, and why they want more money – they’re paid very well especially considering they only go to one dangerous job every blue moon.

I have nothing but praise for Hull’s Emergancy Service’s. They all do a good job in such difficult times. It’s the Red Tape waving pen pushers that should be paraded in front of everyone.
A statement was made last week by one of the top brass in the Met Police, slating the judges who do not hand out harsh enough sentences!
I agree with him.

I have nothing but praise for all the emergency services. I witnessed the rescue of a man trapped in the mud in the river Hull near The Deep on Friday tea-time. The rescue involved the Police, Ambulance and Fire services. They quickly rescued the unfortunate man, who was stuggling with a rising tide. A distressing scene, but the emergency services soon had him out of the mud and into a waiting ambulance. The Hull Daily Mail carried the story of the rescue in the Final editions of Sat’s paper.

Well, come on. People normally have lots to say on this subject.

Forecasting people’s reaction and responses is very difficult. That’s why companies spend more on Market Research and advertising than they do on making the products.
I only expected about half a dozen responses to my simple question to Will on ‘Sexism’. It’s currently coming fourth in the ‘Best rated’ stakes.
