Is there anybody out there?

About 25 years ago, we were travelling along a dark country lane,when I looked up and saw 3 bright lights in the sky.One of them was large and the two behind it were smaller.Suddenly they shot off across the sky and I never saw them again.This happened in Sussex, so I would be interested to hear if anyone else saw them approx 25 years ago?

    List them, Barry. In my opinion it was most likely an overdose of chemicals or booze.

    My husband saw something similar a few years ago when he was at work on Orchard Park. It was about 8.15 am on a bright day and a couple of other people also saw them. Don’t be so quick to mock.

    The "Flyiing Triangles" were all the rage in the UK and Europe in the 1990’s, with one even been spotted over Nicholas Soames house. Questions were asked in Parliment about the case.

    Thinking logically for a second 25 years ago was about the time of the Falklands, is it possible that you witnessed a new type of military aircraft on display?

    The Rebdlesham Forest incident occured just under 25 years ago, and it is alleged the military personnel witnessed a Triangle shaped craft in the fields between them and Orford Ness Lighthouse!

    I love those American UFO abductees. They always live in the southern states and complain about little grey aliens apprehending them and taking their sperm.

    I drove by RAF mildenhall in Suffolk the other day. Lots of Americans driving about in black people carriers. I am sure they are beating up ETs family or something.

    Its a HUGE place.

    These UFOs didn’t start up with that ‘dee-deep dee-deep barp’ music like on Close Encounters.

    I was stone cold sober and I have been cynical in the past.I suppose its like ghosts.Unless you see one,you don’t believe them!

    Five years on holiday near Filey,we saw an object moving very fast,then stoping,then moving away in a different direction.I took a video of it and rang the local UFO group.After about 20 questions about rational explainations they were interested as it could not be explained away. I sent them a copy of my video and I understand they sent it on to a national group.

    I hope they exist as well. I’d hate to think that mankind was the only sentient creatures the universe has a available.

    UFO = Unidentified Flying Object- not necessarily an alien spaceship. In the late 1980, hundreds of people coming out of the New Theatre saw a UFO- quite right. It was a spaceship, Mir, manned by two Soviet cosmonauts.

    Actually the behaviour of some reported UFOs is so bizarre that ,if intelligent, they are more likely to originate from a different dimensional Universe than another planet in this one.( See Isaac Asimov’s "The Gods Themselves"; Oddly enough, modern Superstring Theory allows for parallel and multidimensional Universes, and the opening of the LHC collider at CERN this autumn may actually yield dome evidence for other dimensions.

    In asking about other sentient beings we should not forget whales and dolphins- which most people accept as intelligent. Others would rate primates, elephants and canines as pretty high up the scale, too.

    Deinonychus was well on the road before a large asteroid snuffed his world out . A lesson for us, perhaps? We should become an Extraterrestrial civilisation ourselves as well as look for one..

    Astrobiology at present suggests that microbial life is probably widespread but that Intelligence of a technological, expansionary , nature at any rate is very rare but we could be surprised next week , next year by news from SETI.

    Our Universe it seems, develops in phases, like an embryo, and there are sound reasons in astrophysics to suspect that the "Mind" phase is of comparatively recent origin. In April there are no wheat germs to harvest- but in August, September, the harvest is ready

    But someone has to be first flower of the harvest of Mind. It could be us……

    Not ‘quite right’ at all. It was Mir. And therefore, by definition, not a UFO at all.
