Just been to the KC Stadium today to watch Hull FC.

The food on sale is over priced and poor quality.

£1.70 for a sausage roll. 4 for a £1 at Woodheads

£2.80 for a plain burger. Bread cake and burger

£2.70 for a hot dog. Roll and sausage

£2.50 for a pie. 4 for £1.99 at Woodheads

This is a compleat rip off. It would not be so bad if the food was good and tasty but it is bland and plain. Whoever is respnsible for this should be ashamed of themselfs.

Who is responsible. I would like to name and shame them?

its not just the K C stadium its every where ,were the public are entertained it absolute extaution .but they will carry on selling the ‘garbage’ they call food because they know the public will pay it .we went to flamingo land and i have thrown better tastier food away and its not like these companys use the best quality food !

This is closer to home and I would like to name and shame the person responsible.

Last weekend we had been away and bought a couple of sandwiches from the Birches motorway service area on the M62. We decided to eat them on the move, obviousley once we had left the service area we are not going to take them back. They were disgusting and cost us £7.80. We saved them until we got home and I photographed them and then sent an email with the photo attached to the company we bought them off. I intend to get my money back. It’s not just about the £7.80 it’s the principle that these companies think they can rip you off and get away with it.

Best thing we can do is to not buy it.

say hello to my £3.00 bottle of water from Odeon!! I took the picture last year to send to my friends!

The point is we go to these places to enjoy ourselfs. How much effort would it take to offer some decent food at competative prices.

We went to a world boxing match in Las Vagas a couple of years ago. The fasilities and food where exellant yet the tickets cost only £5 more than we paid today. The Americains would not stand for this sort of service.

In 1970 British Railways used to offer excursions to London where, for the train fare, they through in two nights’ bed and breakfast. My wife and I treated her parents.

On one of the evenings, we found ourselves outside the London Hilton and father-in-law offered to treat us to a drink in the cocktail bar. He and I had a half of beer, and the ladies had sherries. The bill came to an outrageous 18/6 ! (92.5 new pence). Father-in-law kept the bill in his pocket for years, showing it to his various drinking pals.

Its the same a Cineworld Willow,I have even complained to the management on line no joy there then. They now have notices up stating that you cannot take your own refreshments into the cinema.

I go in 5ins broader and 3lb heavier than when I come out, I must look like a shoplifter.

Apparently its their building so they can dictate whether or not you take your own stuff in, blooming cheek.

  9. MikeCovell Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

The wife and I often smuggle our own food into cinema! The food costs are crazy!

  10. Willow Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

I think the problem is that English people don’t like to complain, yet the truth is large companies are terrified of people complaining because of the knock on effects. My own experiance with the motorway sandwiches and modern technology has shown me how easy it is to complain straight to the top and them post it onto a web site for lots of other people to read.

So the food at KC stadium is poor quality and a rip off and be warned the sandwiches at the Birch service area on the M62 are also poor quality and expensive.

  11. TheBreaker Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Complaining to the manager wont do any good they don’t have any control over such things.

  12. Willow Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

ChiefDragon and MikeCovel you should not have to smuggle food into the cinema and feel guilty. They should not be ripping you off in the first place.

  13. Willow Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

What do you suggest then JohnnyNoah. Just accept these places are a rip off and stay at home?

  14. MarioTheGibbon Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

do you take your own drinks into the pub?. why do you need groceries to enjoy a film?

  15. Willow Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

What a stupid thing to say

  16. MarioTheGibbon Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

    why?

  17. TheBreaker Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Well I go to cinema every week and the KC every other week and I never buy their over priced excrement. I just take my own or just don’t bother to have any.

If everyone didn’t buy then they would have to change. But this isn’t going to happen.

If you really want to complain you need to get your message to the top. For a cinema you would need to contact their head office and aim for the CEO or National pricing manager or what every other name they might of given to the half wit. Try hitting them with a petition although an organisation designed to make profit is unlikely to cut cost if it doesn’t think it will increase sales. So while people continue to feed them the food and prices will remain the same.

  18. Willow Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

You are quite right JohnnyNoah and with the internet it is very easy to do.

  19. MikeCovell Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

We don’t feel guilty, and as a sign of respect, we always take our rubbish home. (They could fingerprint it or get our DNA!)

  20. Willow Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

I’m off on one tonight. As a sign of disrespect I’d leave my rubbish. Fingerprints and DNA, yeh maybe they’ed fly the CIA across because the CID won’t have the time.

  21. Chromosome23 Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

I assume that the KC authorities have realised that if you’re daft enough to pay good money to watch Hull FC, then you must also be daft enough to pay exorbitant prices for rubbish food. Sounds like good marketing to me.

  22. TheBreaker Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Good to know you’re not daft enough to pay to watch Rovers.

  23. Chromosome23 Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Get thee back to the Boulevard boy!

  24. TheBreaker Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

I must say the pitch was in wonderful condition today, it’s amazing how it can come alone when the football lot are off it.

  25. Chromosome23 Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Yes, I was pleased that it held up long enough for the scampering Warrington feet in the 79th minute.

  26. TheBreaker Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

"scampering Warrington feet", they just walked.

We gave them the opportunity then the ref gave them 80 meters and 12 tackles – then they just walked in. We should have killed the game off long before that they were rubbish and completely out played.

  27. MarioTheGibbon Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

no, surely, you’re not blaming the ref are you?

  28. TheBreaker Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

No teams have to be bigger then the ref.

  29. TheBreaker Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Refs give wrong decisions all the way through matches but it’s only the ones before tries that get noted. Teams need to just get on with it and be even better then a team with a ref. That’s how I went with only one loss in two years.

  30. ChiefDragon Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

EddGeee,we often go to the flicks and do a doubler or trebler so we take a packed tea and sweets. Up to now we haven’t been stopped but the first time we are they will need a search warrant to check my personal property.

JN I have complained right to the top, the Cineworld is a French company, so all I got back was ‘its company policy’, wouldn’t send me a copy of the policy and wouldn’t explain the clause to me via email or snail mail.

  31. MarioTheGibbon Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

exactly – the refs decisions are as much part of the game as the players actions. same in cricket, soccer, tennis, whatever. one of the life lessons of sport is that you have to accept the rough with the smooth.

  32. MarioTheGibbon Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

"...a search warrant…" – they can probably do it for security reasons.

  33. TheBreaker Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Well CD the next step is to get everyone to boycott buying their grub, god knows how to get that done.

  34. ChiefDragon Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Then they would have to call the police ‘cos I wouldn’t let their security guard touch me with a barge pole, I’ve seem him stood there picking his nose and checking his change. I could have a one woman ‘sit in’, mind you I wouldn’t be able to get up agen without help,:)

  35. Chromosome23 Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Was he picking his nose with the barge pole? I think we should be told.

  36. theagitator Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

If people cannot go to a football game for 90 minutes or attend the cinema for 2 hours without eating, I suspect they have a medical condition, possibly tapeworms, & should seek professional help.

  37. Robbo Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

But Agi, for some people getting the food there is all part of the experience. A "treat" if you will. Especially the cinema, a lot of people like snacking while they’re watching a film.

The companies charge so much because you dont have any choice. Service stations are the worst for it. I cant work out why a whopper from Burger King costs £3 more to make in a service station than it does anywhere else in the country.

And dont get me started on Little Chef prices…

  38. MikeCovell Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Tell me about Little Chef prices Robbo, I have never visited one in my life.

  39. Robbo Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

The last time I went was after a music festival. A weekend of living in a field had me in the mood for a fry-up. The breakfasts are £7 upwards! And thats just for the basic one. That was 4 or 5 years ago so they may have even increased since then.

I remember one called The Olympic Breakfast, presumably because it costs the same as a gold medal.

  40. Colombo Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

It’s all to do with having a monopoly of a captive market.

Wetherspoons prices are significantly higher at Doncaster Airpot than at their normal places.

  41. ChiefDragon Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Well Colombo if your gonna start on airport prices you should visit Humberside,we expect to pay a bit more, but last year I bought 2 bacon butties and 2 teas it cost about 8 quid.

  42. Robbo Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Its not just the companies themselves though. Whoever owns the buildings will be charging them a fortune for rent and that effects they’re prices.

I mentioned festivals in my previous post and that reminds me of something – Its £5 for a bacon butty from a van at the festivals. If you dont bring your own food then you have no choice but to pay up. The burger vans have to pay a lot to be allowed on the site though.

  43. MikeCovell Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

I was in London in January and visited a burger king for a bite to eat. The first one I entered in Kings Cross I was accosted and asked if I would like to buy some drugs!

I left and headed across the road to the one actually based in Kings Cross Station. It was getting late and I had eaten only a sandwhich many hours before in Whitechapel and needed to eat. The meal deal which usually costs £2.99 was about £7.99! I was starving, so it had to do!

A lot of companies pay big money to have their businesses in prominant areas that will attract customers. Their overheads are also extensive too.

  44. theagitator Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Sounds like the population is eating itself into a state of bankruptcy. If fast food is being consumed with abandon at these events & outings, I fear the populace are digging their graves with their mouths.

  45. smky57 Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

i allways take my own drinks and packing up were ever we go, its cheaper and you also know what u are eating, these food outlets are far to exspensive, but while people will buy them then i am afraid nothing will be done about it.

  46. Willow Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Your quite right smky I only wish we where more organised like you.

  47. theagitator Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

JonnyNoah. Quote ‘I never buy their over priced excrement. I just take my own’ Well I suppose you at least know where its been.

  48. rent-a-cop Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Food prices are pathetic ! I take the kids to Mcdonalds and get ripped off. The kids are still hungry after having a meal there. The burgers are so small I need 3 to feel full . They throw in a free plastic toy to make the kids want it.

  49. Willow Submitted 3 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

I think smky57 above has hit the nail on the head. As kids I I remember we always took packing up and a flaske of tea. We went somewhere every Sunday and I don’t ever remember eating out, except for icecream. I suppose that was normal in those days, but it must have made sense then and it certainly doe’s now.

With the much publicised forthcoming resection maybe we will see a return to the picnic basket. It makes a lot of sense. Healthier food and saving money.

I’ll have to have a look at the stock market to see what companies make these picnic baskets. Could be a good bet!
