It is with great pleasure we announce that the Your Mail website has won a prestigious award at the 2008 Newspaper Awards in the category of Best Use of New Media.
The awards ceremony was held at the London Hilton hotel and was attended by the leader of the Your Mail project team, Hull Daily Mail Assistant Editor Alex Leys. He was presented with the award by the American comedian Rich Hall, best known for his appearances on the television programme Q.I.
We were up against top quality entries from regional and national newspaper publishing companies. The judges hailed Your Mail as an “innovative community idea which should take off”
The winning of this award has been made possible by you, the users of the Your Mail site, who have contributed to the many quality posts, thought-provoking debate and pictures, making Your Mail an outstanding success in less than just 3 months.
We would like to thank everyone for their contributions, may we continue to grow and develop.

Congratulations to you all, i do enjoy this site a lot its a way of airing your views some views which many talk about amoung themselves but dare not out in the open, I have found i can have discussions on here about anything, once again well done.

many people have something to say,yet have nobody to say things to.They do not want to go to out and Your Mail lets people chat about things that are important to them in their own way.it does get local involvement in local issues which many want to have their say,and the only way is with Your Mail.

Well done, have to say I totally agree with what barrow is saying, I don’t get out much as hubby works away and with young children too, so its really good reading and getting involved in adult coversation lol, well sometimes anyway, no offence meant anyone. Well done to all who make this site interesting and addictive.

Well Done everybody,I agree with tj this site is addictive but in a good way I’ve just retired and I miss the banter and discussions we had at work, this site more than makes up for it and some of the post replies really make you laugh(in a good way) Bout time we had some good news Hull long overdue.

This is well deserved. I thoroughly enjoy this website and there is a nice balance between posts on serious issues and light hearted ones. The HDM comes in for some stick from local readers mainly on its main site in the comments area much of which is unfair. I find the HDM to be an informative read and it just goes to show that there is a wealth of creative talent in Hull with a community who are keen to participate in debates on all manner of subjects. I think this site and this award has proven to those outside Hull (and some within it to a degree) that our city can be successful. many Congratulations to the YourMail team.

This is a community website where almost all of the content is written by the people, for the people. Our success is entirely dependent on our public users, so once again we say "thank you very much!"

I’m a relative ‘newbie’ seems to be a geek euphemism but I hope to contribute as much as possible. Don’t know why its taken me so long to look towards a local website, dedicated to local people, when I have been on websites that don’t even know where Hull is, never mind anything about it.
Tried to enlighten people somewhat, but I find it an uphill struggle. Near London then? is a constant refrain, you know you are going to have a difficult time then.

When we went to London last year,we had a boat trip on the Thames.When we passed the Lincloln Castle,the chap on the mike said"thats an old paddle steamer which used to be on the River Humber,which is in Scotland"
