It’s a long, long time since the Trade Unions could be described as ‘all powerful’. Those halcyon days of such luminaries as Jack Jones and Vic Feather getting invites for beer and sandwiches at 10 Downing Street are now a dim and fading memory.
Union membership seems to be dropping, and the unions themselves seem to have shifted a long way from their old Clause IV aspirations…I regularly get offers from my Union regarding investments and…

The classic problem of teenagers having nothing to do could now begin to affect pensioners. Small bands of intimidating old people could begin to congregate at the corner of the street terrorizing discerning youths. The roads could become clogged with drivers over the age of…

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I must be an easy touch. Even though I know that the story about "Excuse me mate, but I’ve lost my bus fare and need to get home quick" is a euphemism for "I’m trying to get enough cash together for a three litre bottle of White Lightning, have you any spare change", I almost always give them something. I’m even more likely to do so should they have the usual dog on a string.
