The Petuaria Players will be performing ‘Curtain Up’ by Peter Quilter on the 28th, 29th & 30th January at Brough Village Hall, Elloughton Road, Brough. Curtain Up is the hilarious story of five very different women who inherit shares in a dilapidated theatre and their attempts to bring the theatre back to life. Rob Newton, who is producing the play, said "The cast have been battling through the recent bad weather to get to rehearsals and are now ready to put on the show and bring some laughter to the Village Hall". Tickets are £6 each, telephone 01482 668610. More information about the group can be found at www.petuariaplayers.co.uk
At the Petuaria Players last production of Ladies Down Under a collection for a Breast Cancer charity was held. One of the characters in the play by Amanda Whittington was dealing with breast cancer and the performance dates coincided with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. The audiences were very generous and donated over £400. The group agreed to donate this money to Professor Lind’s breast cancer research fund at the Queen’s Centre, Castle Hill. The Players would like to thank their audience for getting behind the scheme and donating so generously. Photograph shows members of the group together with Professor Lind at the cheque presentation. The Players also intend to donate a further £84 that they raised carol singing at Morrisons, Brough in December.
