MOSS AND HOW TO GET RID OF IT ?

A few years ago I had our drive block paved. Last year there was moss growing between the blocks so I scrapped it all out. ( it took hours )

This year I did the same, but to try and prevent it growing back I spayed the area with Moss killer.

The Moss has grown back even faster.

I noticed this years ago when I treated the lawn with Moss killer, the Moss seemed to thrive on it !

Anyone got any suggestions for getting rid of Moss.

Hello willow, as promised, I spoke to my son this afternoon, his advice was to use Jeyes Fluid, he said it would kill it, so good luck hope it helps.

A friend of mine swears by paraquat, Jeyes does a briliant job of decking. Have you thought about a sealer when you’re moss free?

Thanks for the replies Bob and smky57. Have you any idea if either of the two suggestions stain block paving?

I did spray the blocks with a water sealer when they where first laid Bob, but I also insisted to the builder that he put a bit more sand down between the blocks, this seems to be why the moss is thriving. My own fault!

Jeyes brought decking back to it’s original colour but did not stain, should be the same for bricks although I’ve not tried it. Not sure about the paraquat but it’s active on weeds liquid cells so in theory shouldn’t attack brickwork.

I’ve just had a section of block paving done, and it’s packed with sand. Is this what causes the moss?

Why don’t you employ some Gypsies to remove the moss for you? But seriously try using some manure from bulls on the moss. It works everytime. Something to do with the fluids in the manure, I believe.
