Pavements in Rokeby Avenue

by JohnLawson 5 months ago in Anlaby Park.
Last updated 5 months ago.

Last year there were extensive pavement renewals in Rokeby PARK. Nothing has been done to improve the pavements in Rokeby AVENUE (the main thoroughfare in the area). The Council say that the AVENUE did not score high enough to warrant repairs – What a joke !!! It is just like a patchwork quilt with so many odd replacements by Utilities workmen. Regarding dog fouling. Rokeby Avenue is absolutely appalling. I know of one particular piece…

No Smoking

I read with great sadness about the landord and landlady of the ‘Springhead’ pub who are struggling to the extent that they are resigning from a job they clearly love due to the decisions made by "do gooders". I believe that most people are now well educated on the effects that smoking can have on people and behave accordingly. For instance if they are in a group where smokers are in the minority, they step away from the others to smoke…

Drain & Gully cleaning

Drains

by JohnLawson 8 months ago in Anlaby Park.
Last updated 8 months ago.

Has anyone from Hull City Council walked down Rokeby Avenue/Quilter Avenue and looked into the drains. Practically all of them are filled with leaves and others are completely covered by caked mud. On Tuesday 15th January, it rained most of the day and anyone could spot which drains could not take the water. 50 years ago street cleaning vehicles used to come round regularly and syphon up leaves and mud, but now the Council just seem to ignore these…

from the Hull Daily Mail/East Riding Mail Tuesday, October 7

Every home in Hull will be given a new kitchen waste bin so families can recycle their food scraps. The proposed £6.7m scheme will see every household – an estimated 100,000 – provided with a kitchen “caddie” and roll of biodegradable bags.

This waste would be collected alongside a new service to pick up garden rubbish.

Garden and food waste will be taken to a composting site…

from the Hull Daily Mail/East Riding Mail Monday, September 22

Street lights could be switched off at night across the East Riding to cut soaring energy costs. The council is considering the move because its energy costs are expected to rise by 18 per cent to more than £3m this year.

Street lighting costs almost £900,000 annually and the council is looking to reduce the expense.

As part of a survey of 6,000 households on a range of issues…
