Tricia, did you watch the Ainsley Harriott show last night? What a rollercoaster ride of emotional turmoil! First he was angry that one of his descendantds was born into slavery, her father a possible rapist and helper on the slave pens. Then he found out another descendant was a slave owner!
I have never seen Ainsley so upset, and whilst I have never been a great fan of his, last night really opened my eyes.
The question it raised for me, was:- Although some of us like to look over our family history, are we really prepared for what we might find?
Touching stuff, David Suchet next week.

Hi Mike, Sorry for the late reply. I’ve been away and I didn’t see Ainsley Harriott, it sounds amazing. You are absolutely right though, some of us are not prepared for what we might find when we delve into our family history. I got a few shocks when I did one strand of my family. I still love them to bits though.
I look forward to seeing David Suchet. I read about it in the TV guide and it sounds great.
Thanks for the update Mike.

The David Suchet show last night was interesting. His family had quite a few skeletons in the closet! His great great grandfather was shipwrecked in the 1800’s and was saved by an early coast gaurd, but the highlight was when Suchet got to meet the descendant of the coast gaurd! The joy on their faces when they first met was great.

This is a piece I saw in Woman’s Own magazine about Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen.
The last in this unmissable series takes up the search for Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen’s clan. So far, grim tales of the Holocaust, murder, corruption, fraud and slavery have tumbled out of celeb closets. So what of the nation’s favourite fop? Has he descended from wealthy squires whose lands were pillaged? His sartorial sense would suggest yes!
Tonight (Wednesday, September 24) it’s the turn of Jodie Kidd.

I am not to fussed with Jodie Kidd, but will probably end up watching it! Laurnece Llewellyn-Bowen is quite an unusual quiry gent, so I would love to see his ancestry.
