Paranormal Hull
Last updated 3 months ago.
On Saturday 2nd of August Hull based Paranormal Investigators "Ghosttrackers", will embark on a 240 mile journey to a location steeped in mystery.
The location is a highly guarded secret but one which has several frightful legends attached. One such legend involves a mysterious Lord who made a pact with the Devil and in return the Dark Lord built him a hall to carry out his dark deeds in.
Deeds which included the dark arts, black magic and necromancy! Several stories deal with eyewitnesses to paranormal encounters who have died mysterious deaths!
Everyday this week I will be detailing all the prep work which goes into our work, so you can see that no stone is left unturned!
The above picture is what the Castle would have looked like in it’s heyday!

Day 1
Today was spent prepping my rucksack, which was no mean feat, especially as we will be camping for the duration of the investigation. My paranormal investigations kit is safely locked away in my steel case, and operational tests will be carried out this week.
A new rucksack with a higher capacity has been purchased, along with a new sleeping bag. My first aid kit is fully stocked and collected spare batteries for my electrical equipment.
I spent some time going over my food and drink for the visit and decided that a "Hexi-Burner" would be a good investment. This is a small metal fold away stove, which can be reused, burning solid fuel blocks to heat whatever is in the pan above.
I also invested in a small compact utensil set with knife, fork, spoon and tin opener!
Foodwise I have gone with Rice, in several flavours, Noodles, fruit flapjacks, museli breakfast bars and mars bars. I will be taking two specialist water bottles for fluids and a small brew kit for that all important cup of tea. Other foodstuffs will be purchased when we arrive at our destination.
I also packed my rope as most of the location is sub-terrainian!
I also managed to purchase some crystals which will offer extra protection, in the following days I will be washing these in saltwater, leaving them to dry in the sun, and charging them up for protection.

Today is going to be spent running through an equipment check to ensure everything is up to scratch and operating to a high standard.
This entails Checking everything that requires a tape, has a tape inside.
Everything that needs a spare tape has a spare tape.
Everything that needs a memory card has a memory card.
Everything that needs a memory card has a spare memory card.
Everything that requires batteries has new, fully charged batteries.
That back up batteries are packed.
The Stud detector will be calibrated, which usually entails me running it along my walls. As I know were all the metal, wood, pipes and electricity are, I can tune it in to give a precise reading.
Cleaning of cameras and lenses is important to ensure that there is no dust on the lens, and it operates freely.
Audio equipment will be checked to ensure it is picking up the audio with little or no interference.
All torches will have new batteries installed and checked to ensure they are working, spare batteries and bulbs will be packed.
Everything will be packed in the steel carry case, which will be locked and stored away safetly until the day we are ready to leave.
The first aid kits will be checked against the check lists to ensure they are fully stocked for every eventuality.
Tommorrow I will be running through the charging up of the crystals.

Day 4
Crystals are a useful part of any kit. They can offer a verity of things and are handy to have. Some people rely heavily on Crystals whilst many argue they are nothing more than a plecebo. The crystals form only a small part in the arsenal against the unknown.
I use the following crystals,
Black Obsidian, A shiny black crystal which offers protection against negative energies.
Pyrite, Looks like gold and has been nicknamed "Fools Gold"! This stone protects from negative energies.
Jasper, This is a unique stone which can be different colours due to impurities. It is a grounding stone.
Quartz-Clear, I use this stone to help amplify the other stones in the collection. It is clear and has little imperfections.
To charge the stones I wash them in salt water, this gets rid of any negative energies or impurities.
Some people use the Sea or even the Humber Estuary, I find Sea Salt and Water mixed, do just as good a job.
Next I place the crystals in the Sun’s rays to dry naturally.
There are other methods of empowering your crystals.
Some people use sound to strike out imbalances. Usually done by striking a bell or cymbal next to the crystals.
Some people use incense smoke to cleanse and consecrate their stones. Passing them through the smoke several times.
Some people leave their crystals and stones in a bowl overnight covered in just sea salt. It cleanses them, but beware not to put water in, as leaving certain types in too long can cause them to corrode!
Some people breath on their crystals to empower them and get rid of imbalances.
Other methods of protection.
I have used a smudging stick on numerous occasions to clear the air. A smudging stick is a collection of dry herbs, usually consisting of, Sage / White Sage Cedar / Pine Lavender Sweet Grass Mugwort Copal It is believed a smudging stick will burn, the smoke takes the negative energies away!
My Crystals and Smudging stick are now charged and packed.

Day 5
Only a few days left and the plans were almost scuppered when several team members dropped like flies, leaving us with just 4 people! This, as you can imagine was quite dis-heartening but several people came forward and the trip is back on.
As far as I am aware there will be two vehicles travelling up to the location, packed with our paranormal investigation kits, camping gear and a large tent.
The plan of attack is to be on the road for 10 oclock Saturday Morning, hopefully arriving in Scotland for mid afternoon. This will enable us to erect the tent, and ensure that the equipment is ready for the evening.
Rumour’s of a barbeque whilst the sun sets are rife, and a visit to the local village for supplies has also being discussed.
Of course, what were really there for is the investigation, and the night should go something like this.
Pre-Investigation chat, discussing everyones roles, and how best to carry them out. We have already agreed on sticking together due to the nature of the building, conditions inside and it’s remoteness!
Prayer of Protection, Either Jo or Sam will carry out a prayer of protection. This offers the group protection against negative energies.
Baseline tests,
Carried out via taking the temp of the entire location, and working out average temp.
Carried out using the EMF Meter, this should not move as the location has never ever had electricity.
Moisture levels will be checked, as will humidity levels.
The above will be recorded, and if anything changes during the investigation we have notes to refer back to.
Trigger objects will be left at stratigic points.
Motion Sensor devices will be left at similar points.
Every room will be filmed and photographed, light permitting maps will be drawn.
Everything will be recorded on Dictaphones, either digitally or analouge, either stationery or locked down.
Everything will be logged and recorded.
Everything will be checked, double checked and checked again. People tend to want to believe, we want to check the facts and investigate.
Closing Prayer, again Jo or Sam will lead us in a prayer to keep all energies withing the castle.
Post Investigation Chat, It helps to discuss an investigation afterwards so thought and theories can be discussed. Some people come away unable to sleep so it is best to clear the air.
As we are are staying in the area of an ancient battle, we are hoping activity will carry on into the night, so we could leave equipment running at the base camp.
With this in mind I will be working on sheets to record our findings so that we can have a clear and concise history of what transpires through the evening.

Day 6 – 2 days left!!!
I am getting quite excited now about the trip which whill be one to remember.
Recording sheets have been printed off, to allow recording of EMF, Temp, Humidity, External Temp, Wether conditions, Mirco-Radiation levels, and many more.
These have been done on two seperate sheets,
Sheets to be filled in hourly.
Sheets to be filled in during phases of activity.
These are to be collected at the end of the investigation and collated on our return to Hull. All data will be entered into a program were we can analyse just what was going, when it was going on, and hopefully ascertain why.
Add to that, the viewing of the night and day vision cameras to ensure nothing has been missed, this will give us an hour by hour audio-visual replay of events.
The Dictaphones will also be listened to, using specialist software which can isolate sounds from back ground noises.
It’s a lot of work, but even then we still find we are busy with discussing theories as to why things have happened.
Just tomorrow left to finalise plans, ensure everything is packed and ready before leaving on Saturday morning!
I am sure all the group is as excited as I am!!

Hi Mike sounds like a good one ! Can tell your getting very excited! You will have to keep me posted on this one,I think I know the location you are talking about so should be very good. Just as a warning though crystals can also improve negative energies such as clear quartz or a smokey quartz.(they act as a amplifier) A good one which I use is rose quartz for healing properties/protection, and I use a amythest for psychic work. Take some raw salt crystals with you not table salt,if you ever get into any negative trouble form a circle with it on the floor and stand in it. Sounds all very movie like but it works. P.s dont forget your toothbrush lol

Thanks Mark, I have the crystals all charged and ready for action, and the toothbrush is ready and packed.

Day 7
Well excitment and fear are present and correct, as is adrenaline, in all the right doses!
Luckily, all the minor and major work is done, everything has been checked and packed, and everyone is ready for the off.
The group has been dropping like flies and only 4 of us will make the journey, but we know those who cannot come are there in thought and spirit.
I have spent the morning relaxing going through all the last minute bits and bobs and getting ready for tomorrow.
The planning and preparation has been very thorough but hopefully our findings will make up for it.
So why do we do it?
As a child I remember having an intrest, from the day my father handed me a copy of his book "The Unexplained Vol 1". It was massive and as a kid I remember struggling to carry it about to read.
In my teens I began collecting more books and magazines on the subject, subscribing to several of the now defunct periodicals.
I attended meetings with Hull UFO Society, UFO Lectures and met some of the top names in the field, often getting autographs and freebies!
My knowledge has helped me to help others, and I could not begin to explain how that feels, especially when it is a young family, with children. I have visited businesses and given advice on the paranormal problems they have encountered, and met people with the same intrests as mine.
These people have become friends and in 2008, Ghosttrackers was formed. It was done out of an intrest in the paranormal, to help people, and perhaps provide answers to those that need them, and help to those afraid of turning anywere else.
We often get asked about the paranormal, and never fail to reply, speaking with people globally on a daily basis, getting to the bottom of their problems, and understanding their needs.
So why do we do it?
We do it because we enjoy it, we love it and it is our passion, our hobby, our intrest and a part of our life.
We do it to help, and offer advice, and a friendly ear. To ascertain what is happening and wether there is a scientific, historical or natural explaination for what people are experiencing.
We do it, because it’s our calling!

Well, as the trip was plagued by bad luck at the 11th hour it was postponed.
Team members were dropping like flies, designated drivers pulled out, illness hit team members and it seemed like it would never happen.
Today, in less than 2 hours I will take my first steps towards Scotland.
We will be visiting Yester Castle, on the outskirts of Gifford, in Scotland. The castle was built in the 1200’s, and was home to Sir Hugo, a notorious black magician, wizard and necromancer.
Beneath the castle stands the "Goblin Ha", one of Britains oldest surviving examples of Gothic Architecture allegedly.
The subteranean vault was allegedly built by goblins and the dark forces which Sir Hugo was believed to be involved in.
Very few groups have had access to the building, but tonight, with the blessing of the locals, we will be visiting, a location steeped in folklore, myth and legend. And did I mention it is haunted?
