Tickets are selling fast for Mambo Jambo’s gig at the Hull Acoustic Music session at the Half Moon, Elloughton, on Saturday 23rd February. They cost £8 and include a free pie, chips and peas supper. Good value or what?

Bookings, inquiries, on www.msmm.org.uk/ham

If you’ve never seen this multi-instrumental, Hull-based, duo you’re in for a treat; they’ll quite happily take you on a whistle stop tour of the musical world, taking in Cuba, Congo, Kentucky and a lot more besides.

sounds incredible, not seen this band before but you’re selling it to me. Whats the pub like?

The pub’s typical west hull villages and generaslly attracts a more mature crowd. Two large rooms and they do a good trade in pub grub. One of the rooms is used for the gigs, so has a bar at one side and a raised area that acts as a "stage". About 50 people will fill it, so it’s an intimate affair . . . usually finishes up with "chit chat" between performers and audience.

Mambo Jambo are fantastic. You should really enjoy their gig at the Half Moon. If you can’t get tickets or fancy a trip to Cherry Burton, they are coming to the Bay Horse on Feb 29th, 7 for 7.30pm where you’ll get a restaurant carvery meal and Fairtrade dessert plus Mambo Jambo for £12 – no profits made. Phone 01964 550688 for tickets.

Mambo Jambo are fantastic! I’ve seen them loads of times and they are great musicians and singers. Their choice of music is refreshing and really upbeat and cheerful. I highly recommend the duo!

    STOP PRESS!

I’ve just picked up a flyer for next Friday (8th feb) at Adelphi, de Grey St, Hull, with Quinteto Mambo Jambo (the duo are joined by two percussionists and a bassist).

Also performing are the Kingston Bateria, a Samba drumming troupe. No melody, no vocals, just pure rhythm. I’ve seen them before it’s amazing stuff.

Also on is Nahro Zagros. I don’t know the name but it says ‘fiddler extraordinaire’ on the flyer so could be interesting…

Entry is £3-4 on the door with "all proceeds towards venue refurbishment". Lord knows it needs it!
