The advertising would haave us believe the latest adaptation of Sweeney Todd is a masterpiece.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film as did a packed cinema around me (although I was the only one laughing) this beautifully dark film of the musical reminded me of a mix moulin rouge because of the type of shots and Jack the Ripper’s old London due to the dingy London look – loved it!
Sacha Baron Cohen was literally like Borat walking on – and what’s with the lycra?
Anyway – mostly the singing was good (thankfully the Johanna character didn’t sing that much – it could have been painful). Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman conirm why we love them so and Helena Bonham carter does what she does best and creates a likeable, believable and disturbed Mrs Lovett

Visually stunning – Musically A little wet! Mr Depp’s characterisation of Sweeny was (as usual) brilliant and Alan Rickman was fantastically dark (if a little Snape like…He was just missing the wand and the cape!) but the star of the show for me was HBC. She outsang and out acted both of the men!
Go with an open mind and you’ll enjoy it

A Masterpiece it was… We had a staff showing of this film at work it is amazing..
admittedly I went to see it because Johnny Depp was in it, however… the whole cast blew me away especially Helena Bonham Carter I think she portrayed the character Mrs Lovett fantastically.
Tim Burton did it again! that man is a genius,
