Some great pics on the sight. Here’s a few of my own. The Humber is a great place for sunrises and sunsets, though I haven’t got many of the former! As someone once said, ‘What’s the difference between a good sunrise and a good sunset photo?’ The answer – a good night’s sleep!! Hope you like ‘em

Must admit Bob there is something about sunrises and sunsets that attract me to get my camera out, the only trouble is I never have my camera at the ready at the right time. I see some of my best sunrises whilst on the way to work on the early shift dammit.

There is NO Photoshop manipulation or any other jiggery pokery on any of these photos – these are (other than cropping) as they came ‘out of camera’!!

In that case they are beyond brilliant but really marvelous pictures Bob. I was going to say The Deep one is the better of the 2, but that is being unfair on the sunset one. Once again well done for some great stuff, look forward to some more.

By the way what camera do you use, mines a Canon G6, don’t have a SLR.

Thanks for your very kind comments, Travelling-man! Which photos we like all seems to be a matter of taste, of course, but I do find that some in particular (like ones I used on ‘the waterfront’ post) do seem to be people’s favourites. I will post some more soon and hope you like these, too! Cheers.

Good on ya Bob, take a great picture – no messing on photoshop! Keep it up : )

Do I hear stirrings of the great digital v’s film debate…

Thanks, HeatherHonda! I don’t know about a film v digital debate but I can see a ‘Hull Photographer’s’ group in the making – and a very lively one at that! So I’ll save my comments for then…...

I couldn’t be bothered with film photography, it wasn’t until I bought my second computer, my first just managed to do text files, never mind pictures, that the possibilities of digital photography began to interest me.

Even then, memory was horribly expensive and its only the last 5 years or maybe less, that the cost of memory has become relatively cheap.

Yes, prices of everything digital have certainly dropped in the last few years. Although I have taken photos off and on over the years with a film camera I was never really ‘into’ photography. The truth is, I still aren’t. I’m into wildlife really and see photography as a means to an end (getting pics of wildlife!)though I know for some it is an end in itself. I don’t really like the techy stuff. It was the same when I got a computer – I only really use it these days as an extension of my camera for emailing and archiving my pics etc I borrowed my first digital camera (Kodak DC210)five or six years ago. It was 1 MP and built like a brick. The batteries lasted minutes! I borrowed it to get pics of a pair of Robins that had nested in my windowbox – but that’s another story for the wildlife group! The-Tom will surely be tut-tutting at all this photography mullarkey on his Beautiful Hull web-site so I’ll leave it at that.Well done,by the way, on winning £100!!

so whose going to start the photography group?

  11. BobCarter Submitted 2 months ago Unsuitable Content? Report it!

Are you volunteering, Red? I’ve got my hands full with the Hull Wildlife group and this really is where my interest lies, though I’m sure I’ll contribute something or other. Any volunteers?
