Earlier this year Philip Hutchinson and Robert Clack, two of East London’s finest historians released "The London of Jack the Ripper- Now and Then".

The book was an instant best seller, and was highly praised by ripperologists and historians, and features modern photographs, alongside contempory photographs of locations associated with the infamous Victorian serial killer.

Queen Victoria visted Hull in 1854, staying at the newly built Royal Station Hotel, before listening to the Hull Sunday School children performing, and visiting the Hull Docks, aboard her Royal Yacht.

The visit had a lasting affect on Hull, with the Old Dock renamed as "Queens Dock", and several buildings named in her honour.

But how many people are aware she was listed as a suspect in the Jack the Ripper" crimes of 1888?

The next letter was sent to the Thames Police Court, for the attention of Mr Saunders, the Chief Magistrate. The letter was featured in the Hull Daily Mail, which at the time was located on Whitefriargate.
