Well here they go again,trying to destroy the transport industry.I have just read about the new regulations starting from 2009!The new driver cpc course is here ,and it’s compulsory.A basic outline follows:-

STARTS 2009

MUST HAVE IT BY 2014

COST-£300 APPROX

TO BE RENEWED EVERY 5 YEARS

So not only do we have the digital tachograph ,hgv medical,numerous hours to adhere to..we now have this pile of poop forced on us.

This post should ring a familiar bell with most, if not all of Great Britains Truck drivers. Where to park overnight and be safe in the knowledge that yourself and your load still be there untouched the next morning. The facilities in our great nation are far inferior to those of our European cousins, in fact I would describe our facilities, or more the lack of them, downright disgraceful for a country which is supposedly the third largest economy…

The claim by haulage companies that they cant aford parking fees is rubish, when I came off the road…

Having just read the Hull Daily Mail(wednesday ‘jobs night’edition),i really cant see where this driver shortage has begun.I do hear on the vine that a lot of work is in the Leeds area,but not much around here.Even the bad employers don’t advertise now like they did a few years ago,though i expect minimum wage still applies!I thought that with the apparent increase in container traffic through Hull,there would be some more recruiting taking place…

Well,how many times do we hear ,"lets have a lorry ban in this area"?Well people tend to hate smelly,mucky lorries..but forget that without them ,we wouldn’t survive.I think we should stop and think also about the hard work of the driver ,who,puts in the anti-social hours to get the goods there .And get em there in a safe manner too!
