from the HDM website:
Hull City Council is considering moves to increase the amount of plastic household waste recycled.
At the moment about five per cent of waste plastic being put out for recycling by residents in the city has been diverted to landfill because it cannot be converted into recyclable material.
In addition, the city council’s black box recycling scheme does not include a range of everyday plastic items, such as butter…

What are people’s thoughts on grey water? Does anyone use it?
I have been hearing more and more about grey water – wastewater from dishes, showers, baths, washing vegetables…
I’m not sure that I’m convinced about the use of grey water on the garden, systems are available for collecting and re-using for toiler flushing as well. Some are hailing grey water as the eco answer to our water shortage, I may test a patch of the garden I’m not terribly…

I read in the Hull Daily Mail today:
Residents in Hull are being invited to have their say on which areas of land in the city could be used for waste recycling facilities in the future. The newly published Joint Waste Development Plan outlines the issues and options surrounding the development of various sites for managing different kinds of waste, including household, commercial and building waste. Copies of the plan are available on Hull…

carrier bags
by Bob 7 months ago
Last updated 7 months ago.
The Co-op are introducing as a trial in Hull recyclable carrier bags – you add them to the compost when they’re no longer useable.
These recyclable bags are chargeable where as the standard bags are free. Would it not be an idea to charge for all carrier bags, people may think before they pay and re-use existing bags.
