Did you know that Starbucks cafe doesn’t just do coffee? It takes part in the National Literacy Trust and collects books that are distributed to over 200 primary schools nationally. They set a target in 2007 of 120,000 books and early results showed that it was a big success – all thanks to those customers who have given ‘the gift of reading’ by donating children’s books.

Just as nikki talks about promoting the work of local artists on this site and in local cafes, Caffe Nero asks musicians that if their music fits into the type of music they like to play, then the musician should get in touch. It has an artist of the month and this month it is Jack Savoretti.
Caffe Nero creates a great ambiance in their coffee bars, they play classical, opera, classic jazz, latin jazz and acoustic music. They have musicians…

There’s nothing better than sitting in a cafe with family or friends, drinking your favourite cup of coffee, listening to soothing music, reading the paper and watching the world go by. Many cafes now give great information about what is in a cup of coffee (although many of us don’t want to know, because we just want to enjoy it); there are leaflets on what is happening in the world, such as ‘Fairtrade Fortnight’ for example, which was 25th February…

I’m with the no decaf. I would also say no instant coffee. The real thing every time. No substitutions. When I travel, I bring Rombouts with me just in case. And they’ve been useful. More than once.

Nutella Mocha
1. Three shots very hot espresso
2. One heaping teaspoon of Nutella
3. Half cup of low fat milk
Instructions: Make fresh espresso. Stir in Nutella, smashing it against the sides of the cup to ensure it is mostly melted and dissolved into the coffee.
Pour mixture into cup containing warm milk. Yumm.
